The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins

by Barbara Kerley
art by Brian Selznick
Scholastic Press, 2001

I love dinosaurs, and I’ve looked at bunches of books about them. I needed a little help with this one, but it’s awesome. Liz doesn't even mind reading it to me over and over again. It’s about a real person, an artist named Waterhouse Hawkins, and how he built the first life-size models of dinosaurs. It happened a long time ago, and Waterhouse and the scientists he worked with didn’t always get everything right, but finding out about their mistakes is part of what makes this book so interesting. And the pictures are amazing!
