The Night Worker

Every night, Alex says “Take me with you” to his father, an engineer who works the graveyard shift. Then, one night, his father agrees. Alex visits a city construction site, where he watches workers use heavy machinery to dig a foundation and even gets to help drive a digger himself. The simple, lyrical text and thick-lined paintings capture the dreamy, surreal feel of being awake while the city sleeps.
