My Car

by Byron Barton
HarperTrophy, 1994
This sweet and simple book is all about the love affair between a man and his car. Not much happens—Sam takes care of his car, obeys the traffic laws, and drives to work—but the matter-of-fact style and tone are well matched by Barton’s vivid, chunky illustrations. The last lines offer a neat twist of an ending that will seem completely perfect to every kid obsessed with cars.
